What is Cuzoogle.com?
Cuzoogle.com is my blog that started out as a way for my mum to keep tabs on me when I moved to Halifax. It has grown into what has become a full time job and a lot of fun.
What inspired you to start Cuzoogle.com?
As I said, it was a way to keep in touch with my family and friends. I am not much of a phone person so it was a good way to keep contact. I also need a creative outlet.
What got you into blogging?
When I moved to Halifax I did not have a job and needed something to fill my days as I searched. I fell into blogging and the rest is history.
How much time do you spend blogging?
Most of my day actually. I have a few on the go and there is always something that can be posted. Having a blog that is mostly sports related you have to keep up with the daily news or you fall out of touch. I do take Saturdays off.
What do you do to bring in readers? Who is your audience?
I live to entertain and take a different look at hot button topics. If I read something I find funny or noteworthy I figure my readers will feel the same. My audience is mostly your typical male sports fan who wants a break from reading ESPN.
What other blogs do you keep an eye too? Can you share some URLs?
I have so many. I love to read The Sports Dollar, SI.com’s Hot Clicks, Uncoached, GrandmasterB, Buzz Pirates and Busted Coverage. Sorry to all I did not mention. There are so many.
What is the most difficult part of blogging for you? What is the easiest?
The hardest is thinking up new ideas each day. So far I have had few dry spells but so days it is very hard to come up with anything. I am also not into coding so adding anything new to the blog’s look can be difficult for me. Thank God I have made friends with good people who know how to do that stuff.
I can’t really say there is anything that I would call easy. From the outside looking in, the whole concept of blogging looks easy but everyone who does it, knows it is not.
What do you find gratifying as a blogger?
I love getting emails from large publications like SI.com or USA Today telling me that I made them laugh. Actually getting comments from anyone saying I made their day better just from a blog post is pretty much the best there is.
What can you advice to someone who wants to start a blog?
Work your ass off and just build it with writing and creative ideas. I have always used the motto “if you build it they will come.” Don’t focus on money or advertising off the start, just write and write and write and make it interesting to read. If you do that people will find you and grab on.
